Marcia Cross People Guide,
Marc Cherry People Guide If you are an actor playing opposite Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp) in Desperate Housewives, you would have good reason to worry. As her character has left another dead man in her wake, Cross said she thinks they are gone for good.
"Yes, he really is dead,", Cross told BostonHerald.com, referring to George Williams. "It was his time. Roger [Bart] is a wonderful actor, but how long could George remain a serial killer? His days were numbered." Although the funeral scene quietened rumors that Rex Van De Kamp was really alive, Cross reiterated that Rex will stay dead. "They always want them to come back from the dead, don't they?" Cross said. "I don't think that is going to happen."
The death of Bree's husband and boyfriend in under a year is bad enough, but let's not forget the deaths of Martha Huber, Gabrielle's baby and, of course, Mary Alice Young. The show has a dark reputation for bumping off its characters, and perhaps partly to blame is HBO's The Sopranos. Marc Cherry admitted to Variety that the show may have influenced him when creating Desperate Housewives. "[It is] my favorite show because it's a soap opera [that] blends humor and darkness. It was probably an inspiration when I was writing Desperate Housewives" Cherry said.
Despite the darkness in the scripts, Cherry said there is a good atmosphere on set amongst the cast. Talking once again about the infamous Vanity Fair article ,which claimed the cast hated each other, Cherry said the article wasn't actually all bad. "I'm blessed for all the publicity, based on one goddamn Vanity Fair photo shoot. But [the actresses do] get along," he said.
