Following her resurgent success thanks to Desperate Housewives, Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer) will be penning a new book set for release next year.
Burnt Toast will be an "inspirational" non-fiction book where Teri Hatcher shares stories of her life and delves into her experience in the hope of inspiring other women. "I have had many women approach me, sharing their own stories, and ask me how it feels to have a second chance at 40," said Hatcher. "With this book, I truly hope to reach everyone that I don't bump into on the street and share my story."
The book will be released in Spring 2006 by Hyperion, a book publisher that is owned by Disney and is responsible for some ABC, Miramax and ESPN products. "We're very excited to be publishing Teri's book," said Hyperion president Robert S. Miller, "because Hyperion feels that Teri has much to say that will be valuable to other women. Burnt Toast isn't a memoir—Teri's much too young for that—but it will draw on experiences from her daily life to which we feel that many woman can relate, and they certainly don't have to be a celebrity to relate to Teri Hatcher."
It will be Hatcher's first attempt at a book, but she did dabble in writing after following in co-star Dean Cain's footsteps in penning an episode of their show Lois and Clark. In the 1996 season episode titled "It's a Small World After All" a high school reunion goes wrong after one of the attendees starts shrinking old classmates' partners.
For those curious about the Burnt Toast title, prue at TWoP had an explanation. "[Hatcher] told the burnt toast story on the Barbara Walters special," said prue. "Her explanation there was more along the lines of... she's always felt guilty about accepting the good part of the toast (life) because she felt that she was taking it away from someone else (in this sense, relegating her mother to the burnt part), but now she's embracing the good things that happen to her and no longer thinks of them as necessarily taking away from other people."
