Online reviewers have weighed in on the latest Desperate Housewives episode.

Here's what they had to say about "Gossip":

  • Karen Leigh at EW.com was so thrilled she addressed her column to Housewives creator Marc Cherry.

I'm sending you telekinetic hugs and kisses. Lovely bear of a man, you've returned this show 97 and my girls 97 to their exalted status at the top of the evening-soap heap. Whether Housewives' sudden artistic resurgence is a onetime thing or the beginning of a whole new era remains to be seen. All I know is that Edie is back to her double dealing, Susan is thisclose to hooking up with Mike, Gabrielle got her bitch on, and Lynette nearly went on an honest-to-God date with someone who wasn't Tom. Oh, and Julie's in the house! And Marcia Cross isn't on bed rest after all; she's in her mountain ski whatever ordering muffin baskets for her friends! Yay!
You can read her full analysis over at EW.com.

  • Dave Anderson at TV Guide Online also enjoyed the episode, and pointed to Gaby's scenes in particular. "I loved how jealous Gaby got about Carlos dating Edie. It did not surprise me that she asked Susan and Lynette not to be Edie's friend, but it was oh-so-Edie for Edie to lure Lynette to Travers' birthday party by having her cater it, and then having Susan there to sign copies of her book. I think my favorite scene of the entire episode was the dialogue between Carlos and Gaby after he picked her up and carried her away from the party. Carlos: 'So if I'm just dating and you're in love and getting married, remind me again why it is that you get to be the angry one?' What a way to shut Gaby up."

  • Jen Creer at TV Squad was also impressed with the episode, and commented that the episode packed a lot in. "Oh, we are hurtling toward the finish at a frantic pace. Love it. So much happened in this episode, though, that it felt like a really long episode! But I think we are getting some things resolved. And that is nice, because I like closure." She said that Susan is also growing on her. "I have finally just started to embrace the slapstick moments on this show, like Susan and Lynette crawling through the party with Lynette hissing, 'Go ri de the python!' And I have to admit, I did really laugh when Susan freaked out in the parking lot and headlocked that guy in the window."

Finally Jeff Commings at AZNightBuzz.com was back with a small review, and was mostly upset with the depature of Ian. "I'm very sad that Sir Ian McCutie is going back to England. This is the saddest thing that's happened to Desperate Housewives since creator Marc Cherry has to give Alfre Woodard the ax."

  • There is also brief recap at Television Without Pity, where visitors have so far rated it a A-.
