By Antony September 2, 2005 - 5:52 PMA TV critic has toured the sets of Wisteria Lane and met the cast, giving a light-hearted insight into life on set.
"On the morning that I showed up on the series' soundstage," wrote Ruben V. Nepales for the Inquirer News Service, "as I walked to get a cup of coffee, I heard little footsteps behind me. It was Eva [Longoria (Gabrielle Solis)], dashing to get a doughnut before the interviews began. Wait, I thought—this is Eva, the sultriest and most photogenic of them all? She was tiny!"
Nepales explained that Teri Hatcher provided cakes on set, and most of the housewives weren't afraid to enjoy them. "Teri and her daughter, Emerson, baked brownies, a cake with pecans and other pastries for us the previous night," he recalled. "These very slim and toned actresses actually ate some of these baked goodies as they spoke to us. Except Felicity [Huffman (Lynette Scavo)] who joked, 'Teri also made them for us last year and it took me all year to work that weight off.'" Nepales reflected on Huffman's down-to-earth personality. "She did not hesitate to say that she herself bought her necklace and earrings at Sears [...] that's how down-to-earth this lady is."
While on a tour of some of the houses, it also turned out that Gabrielle will be getting another new car. "The housewives carried umbrellas as they gave us tours of their homes," said Nepales. "Marcia [Cross (Bree Van De Kamp)] and Nicolette [Sheridan (Edie Britt)] shucked their dresses for something more comfortable—casual tops and pants. 'This is my house,' a parasol-carrying Eva declared as she led us into the house. 'And that's my new car for the new episodes.' It was a red Aston Martin DB9 convertible that was parked regally on Wisteria Lane. 'You have a new car?!?' said one of her fellow housewives."
