Marc Cherry People Guide,
James Denton People Guide Marc Cherry spoke recently about how, despite the runaway success of Desperate Housewives, there haven't been clones of his show popping up on television.
"I heard the nicest compliment," he told SCI FI WIRE. "Apparently, a television executive was asked why there weren't more clones of Desperate Housewives, because certainly shows have come up that are like Lost. And this person said, 'Well, the difference is, Lost is easy to copy because it's a genre [show]; Desperate Housewives is almost impossible to copy because it's a voice.' And I took that as one of the nicest compliments I've gotten all year long."
The shows unique nature was also a topic of conversation when Cherry was interviewed by ET recently. "One of the things I like on this show is that we have drama, mystery, comedy—we have all these different tonalities, because that's kind of what life is like," he said. "Lots of stuff happens and it's no all, you know, one tone. And I think that we've lucked into a format on this show that allows us to be different than every other show, because you never know what's coming down the pipe. It's why it was so hard to figure out what category to put us in, because we're not exclusively one thing or another, we're always a mixture."
Cherry also promised James Denton (Mike Delfino) would return, and Denton said he is happy to be back. "I'm not going anywhere," said Denton. "We're back up and running, and the first script is really brilliant. You don't want to be like that musician who has the big album and then your second one flops."
