- Creator of Lost Damon Lindelof spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald of the difficulty of not revealing enough or revealing too much about a show's mysteries, and talked about Desperate Housewives's approach. "It's the Goldilocks parable of how do you find the porridge that is just right," Lindelof said. "Marc Cherry, our colleague who makes Desperate Housewives, answered his fundamental mystery in his [first season] finale and people were tremendously satisfied. The flip side, moving into season two, was that people said they wished he hadn't. So in a way you're damned if you do and damned if you don't ... I don't think Marc did it right or we did it wrong or vice versa."
- A reader asked TV Guide's Matt Roush why ABC doesn't split timeslots between programs, alternating between shows over the year and cutting back on re-runs. Roush replied, and also said that Housewives will (except for one week) now have all original episodes until the season finale. "Shared time slots work on cable and even (to a lesser degree) on mininetworks like WB. But as frustrating as repeats are, they're part of the reality of network TV, at least for the moment, especially where megahits like Housewives, Anatomy and Lost are concerned. ABC can't afford to air originals year-round, but it also can't afford to have the shows just disappear, either. But here's some good news: Since last we brought up this nagging subject of repeats, an ABC spokesman weighed in with the following clarifications. There will be no more Lost repeats for the rest of the season. (Lost will be preempted April 19 for the two-hour return of Alias.) Likewise, Desperate Housewives will be in originals (save for an April 9 preemption) for the rest of the season through its May 21 finale."
- Apple now offers a 'season pass' for Desperate Housewives, according to iPodNN. For $35 an iTunes member can download all of a season's episodes. At $1.99 for an individual episode, that would save the downloader over $10 overall. Comparing downloads to DVD, the first season is $60 on Amazon.com, but DVDs are of course viewable on a main television and include many extras.
- In a review of Desperate Housewives at New York Daily News, Marisa Guthrie said the show is at "a dead end" and that "to borrow from the network's promotional tag line-it's just not so juicy." Other commentators also gave their views. "They raised the bar so high [in the first season] that it kind of lends itself to disappointment," said Brad Adgate, senior vice president of research at Horizon Media. Another said that re-runs were a problem for the show. "I'm sure ABC and Marc Cherry would love to do 52 episodes, but it just is not practical," said Bill Carroll, director of programming for Katz Television Group. "I think viewers are frustrated. With a serialized drama, you want the story to move along."
- Charlie McCollum at The Mercury News also said Desperate Housewives has declined in quality. "Last Sunday's episode offered a pretty good example of why Housewives has left the high-rent district. This year's 'mystery'—the one involving Betty Applewhite and her sons—is uninvolving and continued to stagger along last weekend with no resolution in sight. The writers still are struggling with the character of Susan Mayer, who has devolved into a rather pathetic figure after defining the series in season one. Her love affair with Dr. Ron has been a non-starter dramatically and romantically."
- According to a press release at U.S. Newswire, Ricardo Antonio Chavira (Carlos Solis) will host a weekend of anti-violence programming for Lifetime. "The weekend which will feature: original public service announcements; the powerful new documentary, Searching for Angela Shelton; an encore of Lifetime's groundbreaking miniseries, Human Trafficking; and thought-provoking movies and specially themed episodes of the network's original dramas. The day is part of a special weekend of programming dedicated to the stop violence message."
- Joely Fisher (Nina Fletcher) has joined the Fox pilot 'Til Death, reported Jackson News-Tribune. She will join Brad Garrett in playing a long-married couple of move in next door to a newly wed couple.
- The recent story of Susan marrying for health insurance is mentioned in an article at post-gazette.com about online dating and how some people try to find partners with medical insurance. "Hip to such strategies, some online posters lace their messages with policy-speak. 'If you are able to add someone to your health insurance as a 'spousal equivalent' have I got a deal for you,' said one online ad, according to the article. "You can live rent-free in my waterfront home. Wake up every morning with a view usually only available when you are on vacation. I will pay the additional premium as well."
- Season one of Knots Landing is to get its DVD release according to deseretnews.com. The late '70s drama starred Nicollette Sheridan (Edie Britt).
- A proposed 400-acre NBC Universal could host the Wisteria Lane sets according to an article at LA Times.
- Stabroek News took a look at its very own desperate housewives.
