Lesley Ann Warren People Guide Hello World! It was interesting to see how different news outlets reported on the ratings for last week's season premiere of Housewives.
One went for 'Housewives ' Ratings Desperate (what an original pun there, not) and another went for 'Housewives' Season Premiere Plunges in Ratings. But other sites were different. One went for 'Housewives' Return to Rule Sunday and another said Retooled 'Housewives' is Queen of Its Time Slot.
Arguably they're both right, but only the second set of headlines are fair. The former are comparing year on year. And sure there has been a big drop off in ratings over season two. But that drop off on in ratings was reported on year-round, so you can't now announce that there's been a big drop as if no one has been reporting on it for the last year. In an attempt to get headline-grabbing news (and yes, another excuse to use the word desperate in a news title) they are effectively reporting on news twice. The Reuters article starts off with: "Millions of viewers deserted the ladies of Wisteria Lane as Desperate Housewives launched its third season". No, it didn't. They'd already gone. In fact the ratings are stable, they're the same as when season two ended.
Besides, having 24 million viewers and being the most watched program on Sunday is hardly 'desperate' now is it? Talk Desperate! threads Chat with other fans over at Talk Desperate!. Poll Results Below are the results of the most recent Get Desperate! poll:
